Scheduling + This 'n That!

Dear Brothers:

SCHEDULE
Tomorrow is my quarterly meeting of the THR Presbyterian Hospital of Denton trustees, so we will not meet.  In addition, it is my dad's birthday a week from today, and, from the way it looks, I think I'll be in Nebraska for a quick visit for that occasion.  Thus, if all goes as planned, we'll be back on Wednesday, May 27, at the usual time!

MISSION WORK!
In the meantime, there is much to consider.  First, would one of you like to join me and First Presbyterian Church's Mission Chair, Frank Padia, for a discussion with mission representatives from St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and Trinity Presbyterian Church here in Denton?  We're meeting at 5:00 at the East Side Social Club on Thursday, May 28th.  We're going to discuss combining "mission forces" with all three congregations.  Ultimately, we'll look into some way our congregations, together, can meet human needs LOCALLY.  Email me -- prdunklau@gmail.com -- for more information.

MIND AND CYCLING
Doug Hill sent me the link below -- and it's worth glad, wide, and full dissemination.  As we regularly focus on nourishing the spirit, mind, and body, this is a piece that will amaze you at the gift (from God) of your mind and what it can do and be taught to do!

SPRING/SUMMER READING
Finally, a Nicodemus League member-in-waiting (schedule won't permit his attendance), Doug Ebersole, has challenged me to read all of the late Vince Flynn's counter-terrorism novels this summer.  That project is underway, but it's going to have to be interrupted by Nelson DeMille's "Radiant Angel" (soon out).  If that weren't enough, author Kevin Kruse has put forth "One Nation Under God".  It sounds good so far, but it was the sub-title that REALLY caught my attention:  "How Corporate America Invented Christian America".

A FAVORITE PRAYER
Gentlemen,  Lord willing, I shall see you soon.  In the interim, here is a favorite evening prayer of mine that I share with you in closing:

O Lord,
Support us all the day long of this troubled life, until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes and the busy world is hushed, the fever of life is over, and our work is done  Then, Lord, in Your mercy grant us a safe lodging and a holy rest and peace at the last; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
